Congratulations!

Hi, I’m Imani and I specialise in supporting Black women and mothers from all backgrounds who plan to birth their babies with minimal intervention. I’m guided by your needs and the belief that birth is natural, healthy, and not to be feared. With calm and gentle birthing techniques, and a unique approach shaped by years of experience, I provide evidence- and intuition-based support that respects your autonomy and prioritises your emotional wellbeing.

I work with you to build the skills and confidence to birth free of unnecessary interventions that can move the experience out of your control and into the realm of over-medicalisation. I trust that your body knows what to do and does it best when you feel safe. My job is to protect your space by keeping it calm, comfortable, and conducive to your preferences.

As your doula, I aim to:

1. Provide evidence-based emotional, educational and physical support throughout your pregnancy, labour and postpartum period to ensure you feel honoured and cared for.

2. Advocate for your birthing and parenting choices so you remain empowered.

3. Be as open to learning from you as you are from me.

4. Respect the beauty in the uniqueness of your life journey and how you identify with yourself.

5. Use the lessons of my own journey to provide non-judgemental care and signposting.

Please note, I am not a labour coach, birth assistant or a medic.

Testimonials

Some might say you eased the weight from their shoulders. You made me feel as though there wasn’t a weight to begin with.

Funke, Croydon Birth Centre
(first birth)

You’ve been an invaluable support from beginning to end. From just listening and making me feel understood to soothing my fears and making sure I knew what to expect, I felt much more supported and confident this time around. The calmness you bring into a room is beautiful. You mentioned how important it was for our relationship to feel like family when we first spoke and you’ve become a loving part of mine. I‘ve enjoyed spending time with and will be in touch when I get pregnant again.

Alison, St. Thomas’ Hospital
(second birth)

You feel like a friend I’ve known for years and it’s been lovely having you in my corner. I appreciate that I’ve been able to be myself with you and the wealth of knowledge you shared. I felt seen by how you showed up for me and just listened when I needed someone to talk to. There was much less fear this time around which I can’t thank you enough for. You advocated for my choices beautifully. Thank you, Imani.”

Marisol, King’s College Hospital
(second birth)

I so appreciate your support these last days, from talking about and being with me through Elsa’s care – and importantly, keeping this happy, calm, and light. Thank you for organising a schedule with us, tidying and cooking, and gently reminding me of my ability to care for my child. The schedule we created looks great, and the blank version is helpful as we adjust and grow.

Alicia, Postnatal Client
(first birth)

We cannot praise you enough. From interview to “goodbye for now” you were wonderful. Your emotional intelligence and ability to amplify calm in any space is second to none. To anyone considering a doula, go for it and contact Imani! The amount of information, suggestions and care she pours into her work are worth their weight in gold. We can’t imagine giving birth again without her.

Claire and Bolu, Homebirth
(first birth)

Imani, Imani, Imani. “Working” with you felt like coming home. I love how passionate you are about what you do and appreciate that you truly care about our relationship. Your commitment to my safety and comfort made this experience incomparable to my first pregnancy. I somehow hear you encouraging me when I need a pick me up and will miss seeing you as often as I have come to enjoy.
